Bill Berloni

Co-Owner, President & Lead Trainer

Bill Berloni is an award-winning animal trainer specializing in trained animals for film, television, and theatre. With over four decades of experience, he has trained animals for hundreds of projects that include blockbuster films, network television, Broadway hits, and Super Bowl commercials. Bill is renowned for revolutionizing the humane and ethical use of rescue animals in entertainment. His career began in 1976 when, as a young apprentice at the Goodspeed Opera House, he trained a shelter dog named Sandy for the original Broadway production of Annie. Sandy became the first animal to play a major role on Broadway, performing for over 7 years. That experience ignited Bill’s lifelong dedication to rescuing and training animals for stage, film, and television. His innovative, humane training methods have set new industry standards, ensuring animal performers are treated with care and respect. He is also the Director of Animal Behavior at the Humane Society of New York and has received numerous accolades, including the 2011 Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre, the 2017 Drama League Unique Contributions to the Theater Award, and the 2014 Outer Critics Circle Special Achievements Award. His work has been featured in books, media, and the reality series From Wags to Riches with Bill Berloni. He continues to live on his Connecticut farm, where he cares for the many animals he has trained, providing them with a loving home after their performing careers conclude.
